Puppy Elementary School

What is puppy elementary school? People have asked what is after Puppy Kindergarten. Colonial Terrace Animal Hospital is now offering Puppy Elementary school to continue with socialization skills, obedience, and learning new ways to have fun. This summer in Puppy Elementary School, we will go one step further from Puppy Kindergarten and revisit these skills. Each week will be a different skill that puppies will be able to master.

Cost: For 9 week summer session the cost is $100. Must be paid BEFORE the first night of class
Requirements: All puppy’s must current on Rabies, DAPP, Bordetella and a negative stool sample. Puppies MUST be born after April 1st, 2017. If non-client, you must provide proof of the above from your veterinarian.

Syllabus

Week 1 – May 16th, 2018

• Control walking and working toward an automatic sit (On-lead)
• Socialization/Play time and working toward correcting socializing skills

Week 2 – May 30th, 2018

• Learning how to weave between people and other dogs with distractions (On-            lead)
• Introduction to agility equipment/Play time

Week 3 – June 13th, 2018

• Working on sit and stay, down and stay (On-lead)
• Introduction to agility equipment/Play time (more in depth)

Week 4 – June 27th, 2018

• Come command (On-lead)
• Fetch and retrieve/Drop command/Play time

Week 5 – July 11th, 2018

• Combing previous four weeks and using those skills
• Adding more agility equipment/Play Time

Week 6 – July 25th, 2018

• Walking and automatic sit (Off-lead)
• Agility course (Timed)/Play time

Week 7 – August 8th, 2018

• Sit and stay/down and stay (off-lead), goal: 1-minute sit and 3-minute down
• Mastering agility course/ Play-time/Games

Week 8 – August 22nd, 2018

• Combing all skills learned/mastered and putting them to use

Week 9 – September 5th, 2018

• Graduation Party
