Emergency Pet Care

As a member of your family, when your pet has an emergency, you want to know the best way to reach your veterinarian at Colonial Terrace Animal Hospital.  During business hours, our doctors are available to see your pet at the clinic.  If you call ahead, it gives our staff time to prepare for your pet’s arrival.  The clinic is open the following hours:

  • Monday – Friday 7am – 6pm
  • Saturday 8am – 12pm

After our normal business hours, we have an answering service who will page the doctor on-call.  The doctor will then call you back to discuss your pet’s condition.  If it is determined that your pet needs to be seen immediately, a time can be arranged to meet at the clinic.  An emergency examination fee will be due at that time (which does not include additional treatments or services).

What is an emergency?

  • Seizures
  • Prolonged vomiting and diarrhea
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Injury from accident (hit by car, dog fight…)
  • Potentially eating a toxic substance
  • Crying out in pain
  • Weakness and non-responsiveness
  • Difficulty breathing

Please call 563-556-2667 if you have a veterinary emergency.
