Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°. Pulse 10 oz. canned salmon (undrained) in a food processor and chop as finely as possible.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine salmon, 1 egg (beaten) and 2 cups whole wheat flour until dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add up to 1/3 cup water. If the dough is too wet or sticky, add a bit more flour. The dough should be tacky but not sticky.
  3. Roll out dough on a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick. Use a 3/4-inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice to create your treats.
  4. Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. When they’re slightly browned and crunchy, they’re done.
  5. Allow cooling before serving.
  6. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Cheesy Cat Treats

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup shredded or grated cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt (plain)
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

While your oven is preheating to 350 degrees F, combine all the ingredients into dough (add a touch of water if needed). Knead the dough into a ball and then roll it out to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into one-inch pieces and bake for 25 minutes on a greased cookie sheet. Cool on a rack and serve. Makes about two dozen.

Cinnamon Bun Bites

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup water or milk
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup of chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Cream cheese drizzle (optional)
  • ¼ cup light cream cheese
  • 1-2 Tbsp. milk or water

Preheat oven to 350

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In a small bowl stir together water, oil, and egg.  Add to dry ingredients and stir just until you have a soft dough.

On a lightly floured surface, roll or pat dough into a rectangle that measures roughly 8×14 “.  Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon and nuts, if using.  Starting from a long edge, roll up jelly-roll style and pinch the edge to seal.  Using a sharp serrated knife or even better dental floss slice half an inch thick and place slices cut side down on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with nonstick spray.

Bake for about 15 minutes, until springy to the touch.  Wait until they have cooled completely before you spread the cream cheese.

Makes about 2 dozen biscuits.  Store in a tightly covered container or freeze.  If they are frosted, store the container in the fridge.

In a large mixing bowl, add the oil, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, milk, and egg.  Once mixed, stir in the flour and baking powder.  Mix until the dough forms.
